One MAD Mom, Part 2

Nearly one month ago I started this blog out of anger, frustration, and a lot of passion. I woke up on the 30th of August to what was the beginning of the barrage of attacks on Sarah Palin and her family and decided I had to do something.

For far too long, conservative women across America have been silent. Really, if we’re being honest, we’ve been pretty wimpy. Most of us have been content to go about our daily lives being relatively silent on political issues for fear of offending someone or rocking the boat, while the opposition is out there screaming for their “rights”--thinking nothing of killing unborn or partially born babies, among other things.

I’m not suggesting that we have done nothing at all. I know in my own case, I prayed for our leaders, I wrote letters, I supported my party financially sometimes, I definitely voted....I did the stuff BEHIND the scenes. Those things ARE important, don’t misunderstand. However, I am getting tons of e-mails from women all over the country admitting that they are afraid to put a sign in their yard, that they are afraid to wear a political t-shirt, afraid to put a bumper sticker on their vehicle, and most certainly afraid to talk to people about voting! Is that what we’ve come to?? We send our husbands, our brothers, our children off to war to fight for our freedoms, and yet we at home are too chicken to put a sign in our yard or a sticker on our car? Last time I checked, this is a FREE country! YOU and I have a voice, and it’s about time we use it before we lose that opportunity!

I want to list a few names for you that will shed some light on why I am so passionate. U.S. Marine Sgt. James Bailey is my hero, and he’s also my daddy. He and my precious mother Judy, who is now in heaven, taught me in more ways than I can begin to share in one posting, how precious freedom is and that freedom isn’t free. Cpl. Anthony DiCesare, 2nd Lt. Dale Allen, LCpl Charles Gattis, SSgt Donald Hamilton: these four men died on June 27, 1967 as they tried to save my father’s life during a major fire fight on a hill in the jungles of Vietnam. Many more fought and did save my father’s life, several receiving medals for their heroic actions that day. Like John McCain, it was years before my father chose, reluctantly, to discuss what happened to him so long ago--but I always knew about those brave heroes who died so that my father could come home. Those men and women in the U.S. military are cut out of a different mold than the Barack Obama’s of today. You see, men like my daddy and John McCain, they KNOW what the cost of freedom is. They’ve seen it. They’ve lived it. When I hear political leaders like John Kerry, John Murtha, Barack Obama and others make disparaging remarks about our military-especially when we are at war-it makes my blood boil. When I hear Barack Obama go to Europe and, on the world stage, begin to bash his own country, it is disgusting, and I would go so far as to say that I think it’s an act of treason. (which is defined as “a violation of allegiance to one’s sovereign or to one’s state; the betrayal of a trust or confidence; a breach of faith) My brother also did 2 tours with the U.S. Marines in the Iraq war, and those very close to me fight on the front lines in the war on terror here at home every day. Have you ever taken the time to go visit a Veteran’s Hospital? My father has been in one many times in recent years, and visiting there is one of the most humbling experiences of my life. You see, freedom is not free--and in a place like that you are reminded everywhere you look. Every day men and women give their lives so that you and I can have the right to sit at home and do nothing, or DO SOMETHING. They fight so that you and I can be free. They fight so that those who would silence us have the right to speak. They fight so that our children can have a future.

I, for one, am SICK of seeing so many conservative Republicans sit on the sidelines waiting for someone else to pick up the bullhorn. I am so proud of our Republicans and Democrats today in the House that finally, for once, stood up for the people. It’s about time! I encourage you to write your Congressman and thank them...let them know you noticed, if they voted the way you wanted them to vote. They need to know we ARE watching and the we DO care, and that we DO notice when they actually DO something.

My motivation now for this blog is those of you out there, whether you’re a mom or not, who realize that IT’S TIME! We have been silent long enough! I am tired of those liberals that come here to read and threaten to silence me! I am tired of being walked all over, whether it’s in the media or in government or by people who are too wimpy to speak up! That is certainly your right, but when things don't go the way you hope they do, don't bother complaining if you did nothing.

Alexander Hamilton once said, “Those who stand for nothing, fall for anything”. Are you guilty, as I have been? Have you ever taken a stand? Do you care about the future of this country? If you do, then it’s about time you started speaking up. It’s about time we all started speaking up. What in the world are we waiting for?

"“a violation of allegiance to one’s sovereign or to one’s state; the betrayal of a trust or confidence; a breach of faith"

Hmmm... sounds like "cooking the intelligence to start America's first pre-emptive war based on lies" fits that bill nicely.

Just curious which disparaging statements (about country or soldiers) you've heard these politicians make...

You know it shows just how sorry some people can be. I know that all this time I thought women on the side were waiting for a strong woman to back. Now I see that isn't what they want at all. They wanted the power not support and Put in office a strong lady as Sara who will stand up for us.Jealousy has been around for years and it is really showing now.
I like you have always loved our country, but after sending my son to fight so that we can have a free America. So that we can come home in VICTORY and not defeat.
you are doing a GREAT job..keep up the good work.

Tami- I admire your passion and resolve. Everything you said is dead on. I don't understand why people visit this site if they're not going to use it in a constructive way, but only to bash everything that this site stands for. Keep doing your thing and using that voice of yours and encouraging others to do so as well :)

Good luck with the blog. I read many intelligently written blogs like talkingpointsmemo.com which is published by someone with a background in publishing and anonymousliberal.com which is written by a lawyer so it's heartening that a blog like your exists for the ignorant and uninformed...like Sarah Palin.

After watching your story on cnn I just had to come here and make a comment and all I have to say is "Is that the best you can come up with?" You want to vote for this woman (Sarah Palin) because you could see yourself inviting her over for tea!? Give me a break! Have you not see the interviews with Charles Gibson and Katie Couric? You seem to be reasonably intelligent, but can you honestly say this woman has a grain of intelligence in her? SP might be likable but this is not a popularity contest. She could be a heartbeat away from the presidency. She is incapable, unknowledgeable, un-articulatant and just down right dumb. Please do not confuse having someone over for tea and cookies as being the reason to vote someone into office.

GO McCain/Palin!! I think Sarah is outstanding! She definately knows how to multi-task! I find it ridiculous for others to refer to her as "stupid/dumb" just because they can't measure up to her as a female--INTELLIGENCE & PERSONALITY is what got her to where she is today!
