We Can Do It!

Wow, what a ride this has been! I thought I'd take a few minutes and recap things for you guys since we're on the home stretch in this campaign. First, let me say that you guys who come here daily to read have just been incredible. Your input and your encouragement to stay the course has been appreciated more than I can ever begin to tell you. Tomorrow is election day, and if I can ask one more very important and vital favor of you, it would be: PLEASE go to the polls tomorrow and VOTE! The effort, like never before, is being made to suppress your vote. DON'T LET IT HAPPEN.

Way back in August, which seems like an eternity ago, I began to hear rumblings via talk radio about this 'unknown' Governor who was a remarkable woman and who just might be in the running for John McCain's VP spot. I'd never heard of her, and began to do my research. It wasn't long until I began to absolutely love what I found. Governor Sarah Palin is a breath of fresh air in this increasingly sordid political world. I told you from the beginning, I didn't start out being a McCain supporter. He certainly had my vote, but I voted for Fred Thompson in the primaries. I disagree with Senator McCain on several issues, primarily McCain-Feingold (Campaign Finance Reform), immigration, and of late, the bailout. However, overall we see eye to eye on most things and I would have voted for Senator McCain without hesitation. However, when he shocked the nation and chose Governor Palin as his running mate, he proved to me, and millions of other Americans, that he was willing to "reach across the aisle" to the conservative base in his own party, something I wasn't certain he was capable of doing. I thought his nomination of her was a brilliant move-it re-energized his base, and brought many hesitant conservatives enthusiastically back into his corner, where we remain. (NOTE: for me, it was NEVER about Sarah Palin being a LADY)

Unlike many who believe the independent vote will turn the tide in this election, I believe that the conservative Republican and Hillary Democrat vote will turn the tide, and we've seen increasing evidence that this very well may be the case.

I started this blog out of sheer frustration at the mainstream media and their treatment of Governor Palin. The morning after she was announced, we woke to an unprecedented attack on a political candidate-this time a woman-and I believe the mainstream media and the far left, in two short months, have singlehandedly destroyed, or at best completely discredited, what was once a very large and quite effective "women's lib movement" in this country. I continue this blog out of unwavering support of Governor Sarah Palin.

With the all out attack on Governor Palin by the media and their friends on the far left, popularity for websites and blogs such as this one grew. I first received a call from the local newspaper just two weeks into this adventure, and the subsequent personal attacks started--this time focused on stay-at-home and homeschooling moms. It wasn't just me they were after, it was any conservative mom who chose to speak up! The south Florida media was relentless, although most are so insignificant that it took much digging to find their articles and blogs. It was a few more weeks and the executive producer for Anderson 360 called. We spoke for a few minutes and the following week they brought a news crew here and we spent the morning talking. While this was undoubtedly the opportunity of a lifetime, the piece that aired wasn't exactly representative of our "chat". All things considered, it was fair, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat, but the fact that we were portrayed as a 'Bible Study Group' was inaccurate, to say the least. We were asked if any of us "were in a Bible Study" and one lady answered yes. We spent most of our time talking about the issues important to women today, and yet virtually none of that part got aired. We didn't ask to pray on air. I suggested we have a word of prayer before the interview started, and the producer overheard and asked us to wait and let them film it. Now, I knew when she said it that it would probably be used to portray us as "religious nuts" and you know what? That's okay with me. I am unapologetically a born again Christian and it's about time more conservative Christian women spoke up! If praying makes me a religious nut, then I suppose there are millions of religious nuts that live in this great country...perhaps they, like me, are those proud, "Bible thumpin', gun totin'" Americans. I've been accused of "following" Sarah Palin because she is pro-life. While that is by far not the only reason I support Sarah Palin, I will wear that "badge" proudly--I am unashamedly pro-life, and make no apologies for that either.

Hours before the CNN piece aired, the pre-show blog went up on the AC360 site at CNN, and the nuts (who I now call Obamabots, courtesy of Hillbuzz)  started coming out of the woodwork.  The lives of my family were threatened, everything you can begin to imagine was said--even suggestions that my husband has an incestuous relationship with our daughter and that I should be prosecuted for child abuse because we have chosen to home school our daughter. I knew that stepping into this arena would place a target on my forehead, and my eyes have been opened widely by the lengths to which the far left will go to silence those who disagree with them.

The far left, and many waffling in the middle, have accused John McCain and Sarah Palin of unprecedented "dirty campaign tactics". To that, my jaw drops. The audacity of that bunch is most certainly the "pot calling the kettle black" (no pun intended, so save your fingers the time typing the hate mail). If negative comments are what "turned you off from Senator McCain", which I don't buy for a nano-second, why didn't the crucifixion of Sarah Palin from the beginning turn you off? The left went so far as to make fun of John McCain because he cannot lift his arms high enough to wave like the rest of us, salute or even type on a computer! Why didn't the attacks on an innocent American like Joe the plumber turn you off? I could fill this blog with nothing but list after list of attacks the Obama campaign has launched at our candidates, so that argument is completely dead in the water. You see, Senator John McCain and Governor Palin have something the candidates on the left don't have: GUTS. They stand for something. They have been unwavering in their stand on the important issues. Here, we have a war hero and a Senator with a proven record he can be proud of...we have a wife and mother of five who worked her way up the ranks and finally became the Governor of her state, making many reforms along the way; oh, and she's a lady....up against, well, you know what we're up against. It's a waste of my time and energy typing it here. The point is, there is absolutely no comparison if you believe in voting for what is best for our country. Take the party titles off the table...just look at the candidates for who they are, and vote COUNTRY FIRST, never mind party. If Americans do this on Tuesday, then I have no doubt in my mind that we will be celebrating a McCain Palin victory.

Many have asked what I will do after this election. To that I say, this is JUST THE BEGINNING! Sarah Palin, win or lose on Tuesday, is not going away, and Moms 4 Sarah Palin will support her every step of the way! I am so excited to see what's in store, so please stay tuned, and in case you didn't see the note at the top, you can now log in to this site using www.moms4sarahpalin.net. We are working on all kinds of ideas, and I cannot wait to share them with you! We have lots of work to do to get the mostly silent majority of conservative women MORE involved.

As for today, be sure to tune in to Rush Limbaugh noon-3 pm on your local radio station. Be energized, be encouraged, and PLEASE, ABOVE ALL ELSE, PRAY...AND GET OUT AND VOTE TOMORROW!

Love you guys!!
Tami

Palin has energized much of the republican base, but Obama has energized the democratic base to the same degree and seems to have the support of most swing voters as well. Palin caught the interest of many former Hillary supporters at first, but polling has recently found that, of the former Hillary supporters who like Sarah Palin, most don't feel that she's ready to assume the responsibility of the presidency.

States that are traditionally democratic such as New Hampshire, which went to Bush in 2000, and New Mexico and Iowa, which Bush won in '04, are all a lock for Obama tomorrow. Obama also has a good lead in Nevada, Colorado and even Virginia. Missouri, Indiana, North Carolina and Florida are all still up for grabs. Florida is the state with the most electoral votes out of those four swing states and is the one leaning towards Obama the most as well. Georgia, North Dakota, Montana and even McCain's home state of Arizona are all narrow leads for McCain, not leading by any more than four points in any of those states.

Could McCain still be elected president? Sure. Will he? It seems pretty doubtful. Polls are by no means perfect, but they're by no means irrelevant either. All I know is that if I were a gambling man, I know where my money would be right now.

Good Luck!

I have to agree with praise and coffee.

Thank you for all you've done. Will be fasting and praying tomorrow during election hours and asking others to do the same. We must not lose heart. God can come through at the 11th hour and 59th minute.

Looking forward to seeing what you have in store.

No matter what, God is still God. And I know that we will all pray for our leaders no matter who it is after tomorrow.

Looking forward to hearing from everyone tomorrow.

Thanks again for your blog - it has been very encouraging to read while living in a foreign country during the election. By the way, not only am I a proud American, but I'm Alaskan Born and Raised! Just another reason that I love Sarah Palin!

God Bless you, Tami.

Sarah Palin will be back in 2012. This was a good launching pad for Palin's future at the national level. She was fortunate to be picked by John McCain and put in the spotlight. Even though she became more popular than McCain with the conservative base, reaching a celebrity status, we shouldn't forget that most people would never have heard of Sarah Palin if it wasn't for John McCain choosing her as his running mate. We learned a lot by from her being brought into this election. Let's not be bitter towards McCain. He fought really hard and opened the door to someone very interesting. We had no idea what kind of impact Palin would have on this election at first, and the Palin effect turned out to be huge. The GOP won't forget about this woman.

I agree comletely, white christian, although I believe this business of trying to reach to the middle failed miserably. I have said from the beginning that Sarah is a force to be reckoned with, and I don't think she's going away. I think she's the new leader of the Republican party. It will be fun to watch, especially when she has to step in and clean up Obama's mess in 2012.
Obama makes Hillary look like a Sunday School teacher.
