Tax Day Tea Party 2009: HUGE SUCCESS!

I saw a beautiful sight today. Thousands of Americans from all walks of life joined with one voice in downtown Ft. Lauderdale, FL to say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH(**IT IS NOW ESTIMATED BY BSO THAT THERE WERE 5,000 IN ATTENDANCE) Conservatives, Libertarians, Republicans, and Democrats, young and old, gathered to send a message not only to the Obama administration, but to the House and Senate. You'll see many of the messages being sent today as you view the pictures. We are hearing this has been an unprecedented event, even though we saw very little media at the Ft. Lauderdale Tea Party. That's okay. We in the blogosphere tend to get the story straight more often than the mainstream media, so we handled it just fine without them.

This event was NOT about Fox News, as many on the left would have you believe. (even Fox was late in picking up these events. At least they have the integrity to report the actual news accurately) It was not about party affiliation. This event was about every single individual that was in attendance around the country. It was about making our elected officials begin listening to all of their constituents. Today was about the anger that Americans all over this nation are now feeling toward our elected leaders and the resistance to our elected representatives for passing these enormous spending bills against the will of the majority. They will pay in the next election, so they would do well to pay attention.

I was moved this week as I prepared my daughter for the upcoming Tea Party. We read about the history that led up to the Boston Tea Party, and the history that followed. Our forefathers fought and died for the freedoms we now enjoy, and in just three short months, our President has begun openly trying to destroy capitalism. It's a scary thing, and anyone who thinks it isn't is just naive.

We had buses to shuttle us to and from the Tea Party--and the government didn't even pay for them via ACORN.  Imagine that!

This is taken from the bus window as we were arriving. (about 45 min. early)

The police presence was immense, (overkill, I'd say). I've never seen a more bored group of policemen.

This is the early crew. We arrived about 45 minutes ahead of schedule, and already there were hundreds gathered on the corner of Broward Blvd. at the federal courthouse. There was a SMALL media presence, and they didn't hang around for long. (that was okay with us since they rarely get the story accurate in the first place) None of the local news stations led with the story at 11:00, which isn't surprising. I am not sure whether they did on the 5:00 and 6:00 news hours or not. (this was in huge contrast to the Haitian protests last year.  There were a handful of protesters at that event, yet the media portrayed it to be an enormous turnout)

At first, I thought this was a dissenter who had come to respectfully show her love for Obama. I was wrong. She wore her shirt to say that she did vote for Obama, but is FURIOUS with him for what he is doing, and who he turned out to be. It took guts for her to come, and many people were talking to her, wanting to hear what she had to say.

What can I say? I guess they were looking for all those right wing terrorists DHS's Janet Napolitano is after. No, really they had to be there because we were in front of a federal courthouse.

Above are the posters my family made.

The Winchester, Virginia Tax Day Tea Party
was held in front of the courthouse in the walking mall in Old Towne. It is estimated that hundreds showed up there in spite of the nasty weather, which is remarkable. (hat tip, P. Bowers for sending in these pics!)

All in all, I'd say the Tax Day Tea Parties were a
huge success. It was heartwarming to see something that was only being chatted about on the internet a few months ago by a few people turn into this huge movement of people just like you and me who are fed up with the ever growing Government. It was peaceful, energizing, and downright FUN! Thanks to everyone who went...stay tuned, because this is just the beginning. For updates on other tea parties around the country, see this link and this link. HUGE SUCCESS here, too. Almost 1,000 people in Eureka, CA. I'm hearing very successful everywhere else too.

Yay!

If Thomas Francis thought he was giving you negative publicity, he was wrong. Many will click the link to this blog and find that they agree with you.

I regret not making the effort to go to the one close to me. I found out too late that there was a Tea Party being held during the time I was there.

Thanks for posting the news that we all need to be informed about.

Way to go, and know you're supported from Austin, TX! I came here from that Francis article, by way of SGP.

Isn't it amazing that Sheehan can get a dozen people show up and the media portray it as "overwhelming support" but THOUSANDS show up for this and the best they can do is paint it with porn stars and spin?

Great photos. I was stuck working, I am a cop and would have liked to have been roped into security, at least that way I could have attended but no such luck. All I got to do was sit around looking for speeders. Great post and I am proud to be an American every time I see Americans acting in defiance of oppression. God Bless.

Twenty some years ago, I was in the labor room signing my taxes to get them sent off, so I was celebrating a birthday for my grown tax deduction this year on tea party day, and needless to say...my attention was needed elsewhere but I would have loved to attend one. I watched on the liberal news how they referred to the day's events as 'so called' tea parties and dismissed them as anything of importance. I know better.

...On the way to my kid's school we pass through a pasture with a flock of sheep grazing. The fluffy white clouds of sheep nestled in the lime green grass in a beautiful sight. When sheep are sheared, they are held in a certain way that paralyzes them and they are unable to squirm as the shears are quickly ran over their woolly coats. The American people are a beautiful sight to behold too. Our spirit is spontaneous and strong. I feel as though we are being held, as not to squirm, so that we can be sheared and striped of all that is good and true of the morals and values that America stands for.

BHusseino's giddy hand shake and clown-like smiles with dictators and kings, that hate America, is immature sand-box behavior. He reminds me a student bowing to peer pressure. His narcissistic personality seeks the approval of EVERYONE and he will sell us down the river to get it. It still amazes me how his bare-armed wife stepped out of protocol and put her hand on Queen Elizabeth's back. Not to worry, because apparently wifey can do no wrong either, and the liberal media spinned the story to read that the Queen and her are BFF's in spite of her [stupidity]. BHusseino commented that the Queen reminded him of his grandma which is a statement that Queen Elizabeth should puff up with pride to hear (not so fast Queen E)...as he mentions in his book that his grandma made him cringe...the following is BHusseino talking about his beloved grandma in connection with his racist pastor who you remember said that God Bless America should be changed to God Damn America...

""I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community. I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother -- a woman who helped raise me, a woman who sacrificed again and again for me, a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world, but a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed by her on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe.""

Yes, Obama is a person who would trash his own grandmother to gain the American presidency!

My point...

We've had weakness in the last two weeks in North Korea, we have weakness with Iran, we have bowing to the Saudi king, we have weakness with Hamas, and we have weakness with Cuba who hasn't released a single political prisoner...

BHusseino chummed around with terrorists then and now he is chumming up to dictators (not out of character, huh?) and people who opening and constantly attack America. Smiling and chumming up to these hateful world leaders doesn't stop their hate for us at all, it only shows that BHusseino was not taught one of the rules on the playground which is 'not everyone is going to like you'.

BHusseino is putting down our previous presidents and ultimately America over in Europe, and in the next breath, acts like he's BFF with dictators who strip the rights of their people. It is said that the BHusseino administration is the most radical left wing administration in American history with a fantasy foreign policy that has no connection to reality...it only serves his narcissism that feeds on everyone liking him. But what baffles me, is that he doesn't care if 50 million born, bread and legal Americans like him......Odd....and why not?

Simple, third rock, because your assesments are wrong. You say in one breathe how he wants EVERYONE to like him, and the vast majority of Americans do, then go on to complain about how he's not catering to you.

Seems you want everyone to like and listen only to your perspective rather than the other way around. But you'd only be hapy if tomorrow he woke up and became Jerry Falwell.

...just like a liberal...when they can't come up with something intelligent on their own, they attack you personally for your views.

perhaps you can borrow Bhusseino's teleprompter. hopefully the one that runs your teleprompter is better than the one that runs Bhusseino's.

By the way, Bhusseino claims he's a christian. No worries, Comradio, I couldn't tell either.
