THE RED ENVELOPE PROJECT **UPDATED**

***OVER 2 MILLION RED ENVELOPES WERE SENT TO THE WHITE HOUSE! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP WITH THIS PROJECT. DO NOT QUIT--LET'S REACH 50 MILLION!***

We are asking you to join us this week in a project that is near and dear to all of us who believe in LIFE. To visit the site where this project originated, see this link.

Here is how you can help:
  • First, tell everyone you know.
  • Second, purchase a red envelope and address it to President Obama at the White House. Here is his address: President Barack Obama, The White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. N.W., Washington , D.C. 20500. (the red symbolizes the blood that has been shed)
  • Third, write this or a similar message on the back: This envelope represents one child who died in abortion. It is empty because that life was unable to offer anything to the world. Responsibility begins with conception.
  • Finally, and most importantly, mail your EMPTY envelope on March 31, or as soon thereafter as you are able. Visit this link and let them know how many you have mailed.
The goal is to send one envelope for every precious life that has been extinguished by abortion, every CHILD who died before being given an opportunity to live life. Most importantly, we hope and pray that a message will be sent to our President, and that his heart will be changed as a result.

Thank you for your help!

Tami,

I know that we come from WAY different backgrounds, political affiliations, etc. That's why I am so keenly interested in coming here I guess.

Well, I just wanted to say thanks for keeping it civil. I found another blog through reading this blog (you're not linked to it, it was just a site that was linked to one of the blog rolls you're on) and I just have to say that it is a huge shame that we aren't all keeping it classy, so to speak. My side most definitely included!! I recently visited the aforementioned site, and truly I was stunned. Banners claiming "Islamophobe and proud of it" "keep prop 8, shoot the queers." Several pro-gun banners and "jokes" about using them to protect them selves. So, I recently commented on a post there, responding to a post that was made about Obama running the nation in to the ground etc.
Whoa, was I in for a shock. I never once made a personal attck and suddenly was called the c- word, b-word, a communist, a tw*t (several times!) and was threatened with violence!

I've posted here a few times and you've allowed all of my comments. I try to always be respectful and at the same time passionate about my beliefs. Thanks for creating a forum that not only speaks volumes about what you belive in but also allows for intelligent debate from both you and John.

The moral of this story is that it would behoove us all to "keep it classy." It's behavior like that from both sides that makes it feel as though we are living in different countries. There are huge idiots on my side too. Trust me! My husband I were just bemoaning a lot of the radio spots on our progressive talk radio station in Seattle. If we could all try to make our points in an intelligent manner, we might get something done. Thanks for keeping it classy for your side. I'll try to the same!

Heather,

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your comment. I fully realize that there are plenty on my side of the aisle that do nothing to further the cause of conservatism. I wish I could say it wasn't so, but fact is there are people in this world who are just idiots, no matter what their political persuasion happens to be. It's easy to fly off the handle and say things sometimes out of passion that, while they may be right philosophically, are said in a manner that closes the door of communication. I do try to keep things, as you put it, "classy" here, and will continue to do so. I never want this to become a place like you described.

The thing is, you and I are both very blessed to have been born in a country that allows such freedom of expression--we're Americans. I may disagree with you politically, but I would die fighting for your freedom to believe the things you do, and that is what our men and women in uniform do for us here at home and abroad every day. While we are sleeping, they remain vigilant. Freedom is a beautiful thing, given to us by our creator. Let us never, ever take it for granted.

Thank you again for your comment.
