Call to Action

Sometimes I feel like all of a sudden I'm living in another country. I turn on the news and every day, I see our President and his fellow liberal Democrats holding news conferences telling the American people how much more they're chipping away at our liberties. I hear the woman who's third in line to the Presidency tell blatant lies--and she's one of many--only to have the mainstream media completely dismiss them. I hear about North Korea and Iran threatening the world with nukes....do you ever think about why we heard virtually nothing out of these dictators during the Bush presidency? I hear blatant racism in the media, all coming from those on the left, being completely overlooked. Then I hear about the coming tax increases...only, that's not what they call them. One's called Cap and Trade, another called a VAT tax...I wonder what all those people who called us a bunch of loonies during the elections are thinking now? Why? Because we said this was going to happen. If it weren't hurting America so much, I might find it partly funny. Instead, I am deeply saddened. In the beginning, when Obama and Biden would gaffe it up, I found it funny and dismissed it as a learning curve. President Bush, God love him, had plenty of his own gaffes--his were silly things, like the misuse of a word or mispronouncing something...but when it happens nearly every day, and involves facts an American should just know because they learned it in grade school...you begin to get the sense that this team is in so far over their heads that we're in for BIG trouble. Half of the country will never see it coming, and our enemies are watching with anticipation.

One thing I naively never thought I'd read about in these United States, however, was that our freedom to worship would be taken away, or greatly hindered. Well, today that changed.  A San Diego news article made national news when they reported that a pastor and his wife had been interrogated by San Diego County officials for holding a Bible study in their home. Read the article here.  I encourage you not only to leave a comment on the newspaper website, but I am including the link to the City Council site. On this link you will find the photos, names, and email addresses for the eight staff members in this district. I encourage you to email these members and this newspaper in support of this couple, and to spread the word. I ask that you be kind in your correspondence, but firm and factual. This is outrageous, and needs to be stopped. When is it going to be enough, people? When is America going to wake up and realize that the election of Barack Hussein Obama has emboldened the enemy and those who would gladly take away every God given freedom we enjoy if they are given the chance? Most importantly, PRAY for this family and for our nation. We've never needed it more.

Most of us go about our busy lives day after day, week after week, year after year, paying very little attention to what's going on in the world around us. Most people just don't care. Most people just don't think. Don't be one of those people. Pay attention. Dig. Find out the truth. Because one day, you might wake up and realize your freedom is gone, and you will have no idea what happened because you never cared enough to pay attention. Wake up, before it's too late. Do your part. Make a difference in this world. You won't be sorry you tried.

I'm confused about your statement of "hearing virtually nothing" about nukes in Iran and North Korea during the Bush administration. It was front-page news where I live. In 2004 North Korea announced that they had "weaponized" some of their radioactive plutonium, ostensibly derived from the nuclear power plants that were built in the country by a company upon whose board one Donald Rumsfeld served. Bush was widely criticized for his lack of attention to that situation, and to that of the situation in Iran, with many of us wondering why our military resources were being used in Iraq, a country who had no known WMDs, when North Korea was practically announcing theirs from the rooftops. This story was HUGE. I'm not sure why you say that we heard "virtually nothing". I think we're hearing so much now because the babies hatched back in 2004 have come home to roost.

"Susy",
We did hear virtually nothing from these dictators compared to the daily rhetoric/blowing up of things we hear now. The rest of your comment is unfounded, and I won't argue people who make up "facts". You clearly have no understanding of the deeper meaning behind the war on terror and the part that Iraq plays in establishing democracy in the middle east, and unless you understand that, you are incapable of understanding the rest. If you wish to learn more about it, search the blog archives. Our partner, John, has written several posts regarding this very issue.
Good day.

Tami, which facts specifically are you saying I've "made up"?

The point I was trying to make is that North Korea has been a known, front-page nuclear threat that began brewing long before Obama even announced his candidacy. When Pyongyang announced that they were withdrawing from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, Bush responded by contacting China and telling them to talk to Pyongyang and try to "reason" with them. Kim Jong II made a lot of threats about attacking the U.S. if we attempted to stop them. Perhaps the fact that I live in California (which, incidentally, is a few miles from Chicago) made it a little more "real" for me than for you, being a much easier-to-hit target?

As far as I'm concerned, a rogue country with functioning nuclear weapons with which they are making direct threats is pretty significant, and I can't believe you missed it.

The missles they've launched recently are the result of the years they've had to turn their "power" nukes into weapons-grade nukes, and then use the product to build and test missles. Admittedly, my knowledge of the science around such conversion is limited at best, but the concept of having radioactive material to power industry and turning that material into WMDs is tacitly understood by most lay people.

third rock from the sun said...

tell me if I'm wrong...but threats during the Bush administration don't compare with actual nuclear bombs being detonated under ground and missiles being launched under Bhusseino's dictatorship...but I stand corrected...California is much closer to bankruptcy than it is Chicago.

Susy said...

Third Rock, are you suggesting that nuclear missiles could be launched prior to being built? That somehow they just suddenly pulled these missiles out of their collective rectums without ever having converting the materials, building the weapons and testing them, just because suddenly Satan became president of the U.S.?

For the record? North Korea conducted its first nuclear test back in 2006. A bomb was detonated. Satan wasn't in office in 2006. If you want sources on any of this, let me know.

Susy,

The crux of Tami's statement is that North Korea's saber-rattling, prior to B. Hussein Obama's immaculation, was sedate in comparison to the unrestrained belligerence that Kim Jong Il now displays. Clearly, North Korea, as well as the rest of America's enemies, view Obama's blame America first, kiss the barbarian's butts, foreign policy with contempt. China is expanding its power, Russia probes for weaknesses (troop movements at the North Pole), Iran ramps up its nuclear program, and the Taliban run amok in Pakistan. Obama is a freaking joke. The barbarians smell weakness and naiveté and are exploiting it. Indeed, the North Koreans had nuclear materials during the Bush administration, but they knew their place. Obama is projecting an attitude of indecision and vague dispositions. "For a government to be irresolute in the face of a growing or imminent threat to its citizenry is suicidal." Mark Levin, Liberty and Tyranny. This is manifest in Kim Jong Il's complete contempt for the U.N. and the feckless Obama.

I am so very tired of people second guessing the Iraq war. Here's a thought for you: ask the Kurdish peoples if Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. Ask one of the thousands of men, women, and children that Saddam Hussein gassed and left to rot in the sand.

Susy, you have got to free your mind from the trance-like hold of the main stream media. Their mission is Orwellian. It's the Ministry of Truth straight out of 1984.

"There is a rank due to the United States among nations which will be withheld, if not absolutely lost, by the reputation of weakness. If we desire to avoid insult, we must be able to repel it; if we desire to secure peace, one of the most powerful instruments of our rising prosperity, it must be known that we are at all times ready for war." George Washington

Finally, I would refrain from quoting Rev. Wright. You're placing yourself squarely in the racist, bigoted, black liberation theology camp.

Interesting how you avoid commenting on the truth in what either John or I said. Funny how you libs (and yes, I post MANY comments by libs here--case and point, Susy and many others...it's just you that isn't welcome here Cheryle. I don't take kindly to people trying to look up my address and into my personal life. That, we call stalking.)
Funny also how you blame those on the right for doing the very thing that you crazies have been doing for the last 8 years...even so much as blaming Bush for Katrina.
Get a life Cheryl. Your comments are not welcome.

well, at any rate...every time we go to the store and gaze at the shelves and shelves of China merchandise (I am referring to my recent quest of finding some cages of which to prop my tomato plants on and everything I was able to find that remotely resembled a prop from steel to wood...was made in China.) You know those light fiberglass pots, instead of heavy clay pots...they are made in China, as well, and I might add that the workmanship on those is crappy...well everything we need or want, is MADE IN CHINA. On some products, China is trying to hide the 'made in China' on the obvious price tag. However, on the cardboard boxes, China is proud to stamp MADE IN THE REPUBLIC OF CHINA. Wreaks of communism.

my point....

China is North Korea's ally...and North Korea would dry up and blow away without their supplier and partner in crime, China. SO....everytime we buy something made in China, we are helping North Korea fund their nuclear weapons...

warm fuzzy thoughts on a lazy Sunday, huh.....

oh yeh...and why do Bhusseino supporters always have a chip on the shoulder? I ask someone to tell me if I'm wrong and susy chimes in and drags the conversation immediately down to 'rectums'. I call Bhusseino a dictator and susy calls the prez she voted for, Satan....wow...these liberal socialist dems cut to the chase, don't they...

As for Cheryl...she loves to live in the day when Bhusseino won...really...she thinks he won fair and square...hasn't she heard about the scores of acorn members who each registered to vote '73 or more' times. Acorn lied to these poor people to get them to do their dirty work and then throws them under the bus if they get caught, by calling them rogue members. Add that to the people who never cared about America before and voted for the first time ever just because they wanted a half-black man to be prez.

Those two sums do not equal a winner, but rather depicts corruption at best and disingenuous love for a country. Aha...the perfect mirror image of who currently holds the office. Bhusseino.

by the way...it's more work, but we are making our own tomato props.

Third Rock, I was merely using hyperbole to make a point; that point being that brazenly aggressive behavior (e.g., launching missiles) is usually preceeded by threatening behavior (pulling out of Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, testing nuclear weapons). If threats were happening in 2006, then an missile launch in 2009 should not be a surprise to anyone.

And my reference to the president as "Satan"? I'm trying to make the point that you've demonized him to the point of charicature; it's mythical and cartoonish.

One question Third Rock and Tami: Are you suggesting that North Korea's recent aggressive behavior is the direct result of actions by the Obama administration?

Susy said...

One more thing: Third Rock, I must point out that we DO agree on one thing: Chinese manufacturing gone way overboard. There are reasons for this, of course, but it gets way too complicated and cumbersome for getting into with a keyboard and monitor. 10 years ago my husband and I committed to not buying anything made in China. It was difficult, but we managed. Now, it's virtually impossible.

Tami, if you know of companies and products that don't outsource their manufacturing to China, or better yet, do all or most of their manufacturing here in the U.S., please post them on your blog. Obviously you have readership here from all sides of the table.

Susy,
That makes 3 of us. When possible, I try to always buy American. Not always possible, but I do the best I can for the same reasons you both give.

Tami said...

Susy,

I am suggesting that the actions of North Korea are a direct result of the Obama Admin's LACK of action and that they would prefer to appease our enemies rather than unequivocally oppose them.

Susy said...

Tami, by that logic, 9/11 was a direct result of the Bush admins' lack of action.

Tami said...

Susy,
This is my last response to you. Clearly you have no understanding of even the most basic facts.
It was due to BILL CLINTON'S lack of action that we were attacked on 9/11. His admins policies were responsible for the stovepiping of info at the FBI and the CIA, making it impossible for the two agencies to share information which was directly responsible for Bin Ladens successful attacks on the USS Cole, and ultimately 9/11. The opportunities Clinton had to get Bin Laden were squandered. Bush had just begun to try and undo the damage done by the Clinton admin when we were attacked.
End of History lesson 101.
By the way, funny how you libs never respond to the question John posed about the Kurds.

could I please ask you s and c to check out a new thing called e-mail. You can actually exchange e-mail addresses and carry on a conversation amongst yourselves that way. Your displaced hate since Bush is gone, is boring.

Tami said...

You know, third rock, you're right. Funny thing, since things had died down and libs were actually starting to sound civil (case and point JB88 and some others who've recently commented here) I thought I'd allow all comments and see how things went. Well, they come there acting like a bunch of kindergartners, and have proven me right once again. I love how that keeps happening!

I sincerely believe that there are many libs like Cheryl and Susy who are incapable of utilizing that thing we call a brain. There are so few thinking people left in this world, and sadly they come from the right as well as the left. It's not rocket science people, it just takes effort. These are angry, bitter people--even after they now have won the white house, the house and senate. It's still not enough for them, they still must blame Bush at every turn, while NEVER responding to the truth written here about their precious messiah who inhabits the white house.

I've tried to engage liberals here...something they refuse to do on their blogs and something that most conservative bloggers refrain from doing because it is nearly impossible to have a civilized conversation with people who are so irrational. I guess I was wrong thinking it could happen here. Cheryl came here and threatened me on more than one occasion...it was never enough to just have a debate. She had to get personal. She and her friend even went so far as to post entire blog postings about ME! I don't know about you, third rock, but I go to liberal websites to read--but never bother to waste my time leaving comments there and am certainly not going to give them an inch of space on my blog (other than the Bellevue section). I'm not a bully and have no interest in hurling threats, insults, or making up lies just to try and make a point. I'll stick to real historical facts, thank you.

These are the most angry people I've ever seen and I'm finished giving them a platform here. Get a life, you two. Misery loves company, so perhaps you can connect in some other way if you don't already live right next door to each other.

Yep I tried to change the policy but certain people decided to abuse it, so back to the same old moderation as before.

Personally there is soooo much liberalism in the mainstream media, that I get my fill of it watching tv.

I come to this 'moms for Sarah Palin' site because it is informative, dignified, inspirational, intelligent, insightful AND I am impressed with Sarah Palin.

The way s and c talk, you would think their candidate lost instead of won. I have seen bitterness and sarcasm in how Bhusseino responds to the right, so bloody bitterness is expected of his supporters.

On the lighter side, I am anxiously awaiting my company car, because as an owner in GM now...we are entitled to one....right?

BUT, I am not really happy about Bhusseino's $25,000 date night that we payed for the other night on the heels of thousands more losing their jobs at GM. Oh, but wait....we are supposed to be in awe that he sprung for his own theatre ticket that cost 90 bucks...Woohoo! I just love how he likes to compare himself to the po folk...how much did any of us spend on a date night lately?...that is if we went at all. It sure wasn't $25,000...wasn't even close.

I can't even afford a brand new car, but I sure as heck can afford to buy the whole freaking car company...

something's wrong with this picture.

Oh, but don't you realize the rules don't apply to the dear leader OR to those in Congress?

I mean, think about the stupidity of just what's happened in the last month or so? Did you read the leading article in Pravda, Russia's leading newspaper yesterday? VERY interesting.
Here's the link: it's title--"American Capitalism Gone Without a Wimper". http://english.pravda.ru/opinion/columnists/107459-0/
