Democrats Play the Race Card

I know, this is a forbidden subject...but if Tyra Banks and Oprah can talk about race and racism then so can this “lazy housewife”. (as I’ve been referred to in the media)

From the beginning of this presidential election process, Barack Obama has played the race card. Bill and Hillary Clinton have played the race card. DEMOCRATS have played the race card. Up until now, I would hear the garbage being spewed on this subject, and just roll my eyes considering the source. However, today when I heard it suggested that if “they” do not vote for Obama, it’s because he’s black, that sent me right on over the edge! (I suppose "they" refers to anyone either not a Democrat or not of the same color as Obama)

Let me tell you something. If I think you’re an idiot, it has nothing to do with your skin color. You could have purple skin and you might be the nicest person alive or, in Barack Obama’s case, he has black skin and he’s a disgrace, a political thug, and an elitist pig. There, I said it. It has NOTHING to do with the color of his skin. I base my opinion solely on the merits, and his don’t measure up.
What they are suggesting is that there are two options for voters in November: vote for Obama because you’re not racist, or don’t vote for him and you’re a racist. They are simply trying to bully the American people into voting for Obama based on race. It is insulting, and if he’d ever been someone I considered voting for, he would have lost my vote after the rhetoric I've heard the last few months, and primarily the last few days.

"Obama is stoking racism", says Rush Limbaugh, after Obama ran an ad that took comments about Mexicans by Rush completely out of context. Now Rush Limbaugh may not be your cup of tea, but I can tell you this after listening to the man for 20 years, he is no racist. I heard the two shows that Obama misrepresented in those spanish only ads, and I can tell you for sure that the Obama camp is lying and trying to bait the Hispanic population. His campaign is trying to pit the many races of the American people against each other. He cannot talk about himself based on the facts, so instead, he rips others to shreds and has yet to answer questions about many of his associations, many of the “bills” he says he wrote but didn’t, and so on.

This may come as a huge surprise, but I am NOT voting for Obama/Biden on November 4th. I am NOT a racist. I will NOT vote for Obama because he is a socialist. I will NOT vote for Obama because he will raise taxes. I will NOT vote for Obama because he believes not only in abortion, but infanticide. I will NOT vote for Obama because he chooses to associate with the likes of William Ayers, Louis Farrakhan, and his notorious racist former Pastor Jeremiah Wright. I will NOT vote FOR Barack Obama, and as much as they'd like to blame it on race, it has absolutely NOTHING to do with the color of his skin. 

I hardly think this is the “change” that this country needs.

What CAN I Do?

I have had so many people ask me, "Tami, what CAN I do, besides go vote on November 4th?" 

I got a very unexpected, but special call from a family friend today who also happens to be someone I highly respect. He made it very clear to me that there are a huge number of Christians world wide who are joining in prayer for Sarah Palin and the McCain/Palin campaign. This is, most importantly,  what we must do above all else: PRAY. There is nothing more powerful than a nation of families on their knees in prayer.

 

Beyond that, there are several things we can do to join the grassroots movement for our party. I will list a few ideas I got today from the campaign:

1. Host debate-watching parties! 

Start on September 26th! Follow this link to host OR attend one. "As the host of a McCain Nation party, you will receive a packet of resources including a suggested party agenda, campaign information and McCain-Palin gear. We're asking you to register your party before Monday, September 22nd", for the first debate party, to receive this packet in advance. 

2. Vote EARLY or vote ABSENTEE. 

"Now more than ever, your vote is critical. And there's no better way to vote than by voting early, or with an absentee ballot. Voting early, or with an absentee ballot, is the best way to avoid the long line on Election Day and get your vote counted. 3. Make phone calls from home.

WE Will Be The Deciding Factor, Ladies!

The polls show that McCain and Obama are essentially tied across the country.  Some polls show one up a couple of points over the other, but if you look really close you see that the error of margin is usually +/- 4 points.  Discussion last night on the O’Reilly Factor was about who would decide the election.  The consensus was that WOMEN would be the ones to make the difference in who is elected to serve as President of the United States.  As women we cannot go about our daily lives as usual, and then head to the polls to vote uninformed.  We must have all the information needed to make an informed decision.  This blog is a great place to discuss this information, but essentially we are all responsible for our own decision.  Please, do your research.  Find out what each candidate stands for.  Find out what their record is in the Senate.  Find out what you can about what they did before they were Senators or Governors or Community Organizers.  And when you make YOUR informed decision, speak up about your choice in a positive manner. Encourage your friends and acquaintances to do the same.  We must vote on November 4^th.  Your vote may be the one to break the tie!

RESPONSIBILITY

A disturbing e-mail arrived in my inbox the other day. It was from a friend, a wife and mother of 3. I had sent an e-mail to everyone on my list discussing Gov. Palin and my ideas for this blog. Her response came as a surprise to me, and I am seeing it more often than not. She said “I’m not much into politics, I don’t really care.” She went on to tell me that her husband is mildly interested, but that neither of them “get into it all that much”. Earlier this year, that same friend told me who she was voting for in the primaries “because her parents told her to”. She’s in her late thirties.

Now maybe you aren’t the kind of person that immerses yourself in politics, and that’s okay. We’re all busy and have different priorities as moms. However, girls, let me say this: it’s high time we started paying attention! The lives of our precious children and families hang in the balance! If you think it's unimportant, look into the eyes of those precious ones you love (whether or not you're a mom!) and think about the future. Do you, like me, sometimes fear what lies ahead? How long will we maintain the freedom to worship? What about terrorism? What about energy independence? What about education? What about abortion? So many issues DO effect, directly or indirectly, our very existence. We need to wake up and care, because EVERY SINGLE VOTE does make a very big difference!

You say, “Tami, that is ridiculous!” as you roll your eyes and wonder how I became so misinformed. I say this is perhaps the most important election of our lifetime. We have a man running for office who literally has virtually no experience whatsoever, one who clearly has a disdain for our men and women in uniform unlike anything we’ve seen in a candidate for President, and who appears (due to his associations) to be racist. Earlier this year, when I pointed out this fact, another “friend” told me I was mean and that my words were hate filled. The facts speak for themselves and we’d better start paying attention, THIS IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY!!! I certainly do not hate Obama or any other democrat. I am, however, passionate about what I believe in, and I intend to do my part to protect what I believe so strongly in. What I believe in is MORALLY RIGHT! The choices between our candidates this year are quite clear cut. Won't you join me and do your part? Write letters, donate funds, no matter how small the amount, help at the polls, put a sign in your yard, get out in November and VOTE! (if you aren't registered, see link on right of this page) It IS our RESPONSIBILITY! We'd better start caring, we are raising the leaders of our future.
